“
Oh! I love the found family trope! Gosh, this is just like the hero in my favorite game, Vagabondia Chronicles. The greatest JRPG of all time.
”
Vagabondia Chronicles is a Japanese role-playing game which was Marcy Wu's favorite back on Earth.
Background[]
After Anne and Marcy are reunited and the latter meets the Plantar family outside Newtopia, she starts asking Anne if they are her surrogate frog family that found and adopted her, later saying that she loves the found family trope just like the hero in her favorite game, Vagabondia Chronicles, which she reveals is her favorite JRPG of all time. She asks the Plantars if they have ever played it and says if they wanted to borrow it she could give them a copy so that it would "change their lives".[2]
Mr. Boonchuy also has a copy of the game in his office room at home.[3]

Trivia[]
- The cover art to the game is a reference to the one used for Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line from its release in Japan on January 26, 1987. The company logo, Gomcom, is based on the logo from the game's publisher, Enix (now Square Enix).
- The game is mentioned a handful of times during Marcy's Journal: A Guide to Amphibia.
- When Marcy is describing the game to the Plantars, the shown game snapshot shows the main protagonist holding a reddish-pink sword with an avian design similar to Sasha's pink heron sword, though the sword's red color glow effect could also reference Tritonio's ancestral sword with blue glow effect when used by Anne.
