Dialogue

(The episode begins in Anne's room. Anne is reading a book called "Dante's Inferno".)
Anne
Hmmm... I give Dante's Inferno a B+ for story, and an F- for helping us get home. How's it going on your end... Sprig?
Sprig
Pretty good. I think I'm really getting somewhere. (The camera zooms out and it's shown he's built a giraffe out of books.) It's a giraffe.
Anne
Okay. I can see we need a break. Finger football?
Sprig
You know it. (jumps off the top book)
(Anne pulls the paper triangle and goes through the arch, which was Sprig's tongue.)
Sprig
Score! (laughts)
(Polly and Hop Pop enter the room and they notice that they're acting somewhat strange.)
Anne
Hey, what's gotten into you two?
Polly
Oh, nothing. We're just looking for a place to put this (shows them a mud crown as Hop Pop strikes a festive pose) MUD CROWN!
Anne
(confused) What is that? (Polly and Hop Pop group around Sprig and he gets excited) What's going on?
Hop Pop
Well, in Amphibia, it's (As he takes Sprig's hat off) customary to put a mud crown on somebody's head when (While Sprig bends down for Polly to put her mud crown on him) it's their BIIIIIIRTHDAAAAY!
Anne
WHAT?
Polly and Hop Pop
(While Hop Pop holds Sprig's right hand and Polly holds Sprig's left hand. Sprig makes a cute face with his tongue sticking out) (singing) ♩Froggy little birthday here♩ ♩It's crystal clear you were born this hoppy time of year♩ (kiss Sprig's cheeks)
Sprig
(flattered) Aaw, thanks, guys. You shouldn't have.
Anne
Sprig, I had no idea it was your birthday!
Sprig
Neh. Don't worry about it. I don't think I ever mentioned it.
Anne
(worried) (As takes Sprig on his shoulders) BUT I'M YOUR FRIEND! I'm supposed to know these things! (calms down) Well, we're not doing anymore research today. We're doing whatever folksy frog traditions you do. Whaddya got?
Hop Pop
Well, the mud crown represents every frog's humble beginning as an egg in the muddy waters of the swamp.
Polly
And all that's left is for the birthday frog to wear his crown and... reflect.
Anne
Reflect?
Hop Pop
On his life until this point. Shh. It's starting.
(Sprig is shown leaning out of the window for reflection.)
Sprig
OK. All done.
Hop Pop
Welp, that's that. Hoppy birthday, kiddo. Pretty quick this year.
Polly
I wonder which of our eight streaming services we should watch.
Sprig
Wait for me, guys!
Anne
Wait. Hold on. That's all you frogs do for your honkin' birthdays?
Hop Pop
Yes. This is starting to feel a little culturally insensitive.
Anne
Unacceptable. Birthdays should be fun and memorable! Especially when you're turning... uh... um... uh...
Sprig
Eleven.
Anne
Eleven! And I knew that because I'm your friend. And this friend's about to give you the best birthday (distorted voice) you've ever had in your life! Capisce?
Sprig
Well, I'm intrigued! A little scared, but intrigued. Let's do it. (Throws the mud crown out the window.)
Mr. Boonchuy

Now, now, my little impatiens. Don't be impatient.

I can't believe Hop Pop and Polly didn't want to share this basket with me. I feel perfectly sa-- Whoa... whoa... whoa...
Anne
Listen up. Earth birthdays are about fun, presents, cake. It's basically a day that means you tell people what to do and get what you want.
Sprig
Wow. In Amphibia, it's all about respecting those around you and being grateful for the time you have left alive.
Anne
Man, talk about brainwashing.
Sprig
Are you talking about me or you?
Anne

Earth birthday montage engage!
(The montage begins with Anne and Sprig going to the mall's Party Village store, where the disguised frog is dressed head to toe in birthday-themed apparel and holding balloons in both hands.)
Sprig
(laughing) Whoa! (grunts)
(Sprig loses his balance and falls on the floor, resulting in the balloons flying away. The scene transitions to the Santa Monica Pier where Anne and Sprig are eager to get on the rollercoaster there. An employee reminds Sprig of the height restrictions, but Sprig (held by Anne) reminds the guy that it's his birthday. With that, both friends are allowed on the ride. As the two board the train, the restraints come down, much to Sprig's surprise.)
Sprig
What the heck?
(The ride starts and everyone is enjoying it. As the train goes through one of the coaster’s airtime hills, Sprig flies out of the train, but Anne grabs him by the arm before the drop. After the ride, the pals laugh at the on-ride photo taken.)
(The next part of the montage takes Anne and Sprig to a Mexican restaurant where, after having a hearty meal, a mariachi trio arrives at their booth.)
♪ Feliz cumpleaños, Sprig ♪ ♪ Feliz cumpleaños, Sprig ♪

(The guitarist of the trio offers Sprig a sparkler-adorned flan, which he eats in one gulp. He lets out a fiery burp (literally) and discovers the restaurant is on fire. Anne and the trio take notice too, but to keep the birthday procession going, the trio perform a rock tune, much to Anne and Sprig's delight.)
(The montage continues with Anne and Sprig pedaling a swan boat on a lake, a ride on the carousel, and a pit stop at a hill near the Hollywood sign.)
Anne & Sprig
Eh.
(The two walk away. The next item on the birthday list brings them outside of the Griffith Observatory. Anne pockets a small box in her shorts.)
Sprig
Whew! Man, that place had everything-- big telescopes, crazy contraptions. And I met a new friend.
Anne
That wasn't a friend. That was Security, yelling at you to get off the telescope.
Sprig
Anne, on your Earth birthday, everyone is your friend.
Anne
Now you're gettin' it.
Happy birthday, kid!
Cute balloons!
Happy b-day, dude! It's actually my birthday too.
Sprig
Wow. That was fun. Thanks for an incredible birthday, Anne. You know, at first, I couldn't understand why you'd make birthdays so special. And now I get it! Today was amazing.
Anne
So was it the best birthday you've even had?
Sprig
Oh! Definitely top three.
Anne
What? That's it? I pull out all the stops, and I'm still third place to a couple of mud crowns?
Sprig
Well...
Anne
This will not stand! It is my duty as your friend to keep this party going until it's in the number one spot!
Sprig
But haven't we done everything by this point?
Anne
Not everything.

Anne

Thanks, Dad. Be back soon.

Mr. Boonchuy

No worries. I'll just be over here, reading great American literature. (chuckling) Simply brilliant.

Sprig

What the frog?

Blair the Balloonist
Ah! Don't be startled, child. This balloon only looks scary because it was re-purposed from a horror movie promotional piece.
Anne
What? How could you think that was a good idea?
Blair the Balloonist
Well, we weren't about to waste a perfectly good clown balloon. Anyways, the name's Blair, the balloonist. I take it you're... (horn honks) ...here for the birthday package?

Can we at least sit in the basket and imagine we're flying?
Blair the Balloonist
Yeah. Heck, you don't even need me for that. Just give me holler when you've had enough.

Sprig

Anne

Sprig

Tyler

(This is due to the balloon covering the word "marry", much to Tyler's dismay. At an open-air restaurant, a woman sits alone at her table.)

Anne
(whines, then tearfully) Really? It's, like, the sweetest thing anyone's ever said. Thanks, man. Okay. I've gotta know. What are your two top birthdays?

Anne

Oh. Well, that makes a lot of sense. What about number two?
Sprig
That was when my mom and dad gave me this hat. My memory of it is a little fuzzy. But it's an iconic hat, right?
Anne
Yeah. It is iconic. Oh, yeah. And here's the present I got you.

Sprig

Yay! Whoa. It's a telescope with my name engraved on it. Thanks, Anne.

You're welcome, dude. Okay. Let's go home because I don't wanna look at that clown anymone.
