Anne Boonchuy, a self-centered 13-year-old 7th grader, is magically transported to the fictitious world of Amphibia, a rural marshland full of frog-people, also known as Amphibians and dangerous creatures. With the help of an excitable young frog named Sprig Plantar, Anne will transform into a hero and discover the first true friendship of her life.

- This is the only season in which Marcy never speaks nor is shown at the present time (her only physical appearance was in a flashback in "Best Fronds"). She instead was pictured in "Best Fronds" and "Prison Break" and was mentioned in six episodes.[note 2]
- This is the only season in which Newtopia does not physically appear (it is only mentioned and pictured once in "Fiddle Me This").
- Most of the episode screenshots and video footage in promos were taken from the first half of the season, as well as "Grubhog Day," "Hop Pop and Lock" and "Reunion."
- The midseason finale had the most U.S. viewers of the entire season.
- By contrast, the season finale had the least U.S. viewers of the season.
- This is the only season to have episodes premiere on weekdays.
- "Best Fronds" was the first episode produced, while its sister episode was the first episode in airing order.
