Mr. Boonchuy (ภุมระ บุญช่วย; Thai nickname Bee)[2] is a supporting character of Amphibia. He is Mrs. Boonchuy's husband and Anne's father.

Body[]
Mr. Boonchuy bears few resemblances to Anne, though mostly the dark brown hair. He has a big oval chin, 2 dark thick brown eyebrows above his pair of eyes, light wrinkles underneath his eyes, and a big yet a bit flat nose. He's the tallest in the family compared to his wife and daughter.
Clothing[]
Mr. Boonchuy wears a yellow polo shirt with red stripes having a blue shield-like symbol at the heart area as well as a 3 at the back of his shirt, a pair of blue jeans, and a pair of white socks while wearing a pair of brown sandals when not at home. He has a golden wedding ring on his left ring finger.
During the episode "Froggy Little Christmas", Mr. Boonchuy wears a Christmas tree sweater along with rubber duck print pajamas and brown slippers.
Personality[]
Mr. Boonchuy's relationship with his daughter is close. Although he originally thought Anne was immature, problematic, and around bad influences, ever since Anne returned from Amphibia with the Plantars, he has seen that Anne changed and was quick to accept her new way of living and her new friends.
Unlike his wife, he's more easy-going and open-minded as he understand what Anne's been going through and attempt to convince his wife to listen to her explain why she kept the truth of Andrias' invasion as a secret. Inspired by Anne's heroism, he and his wife became more courageous and heroic like her, as they manage to keep Mr. X and his agent away from Anne and the Plantars. He also believed in her as he encouraged Anne not to give up instead of listening to Mr. X's tauntings when he and their Earth allies are on their way to rescue the Plantars from the FBI. During the Frog-vasion, he and his wife are helping Anne in a fight against King Andrias and manage to convince Mr. X to turn over a new leaf.
Background[]
Early life[]
Not much is known about his past, except that he was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand and that he was a Boy Scout in his youth. In his adult years, he sometime later fell in love with his future wife. Later, they had a daughter, Anne. When he and his wife immigrated to the US, they opened Thai Go near their house.
Later life[]
Along with his wife he grew strict with his daughter in her middle school years, wanting her to have better grades in school with her daughter slacking off in doing so.
His daughter back with new guests[]
Mr. Boonchuy and his wife are happily reunited with Anne during "The New Normal" after she returned from Amphibia. Although initially shocked by what Anne was up to for the past five months, he is accepting of the Plantars and is willing to let them stay until they find a way back. He then sees just how much his daughter has changed over her absence and gains more respect for her.
In "Hop 'Til You Drop", he was cooking breakfast as Anne was beginning to have trouble the Plantars, as Polly nearly got into a fight with some Kids, Sprig nearly touched something dangerous, and Hop Pop was almost scammed.
In "Thai Feud", he was working at Thai Go with his wife and Anne.
In "Adventures in Catsitting", Mr. Boonchuy tends to the Plantars because they're guests to his family. Later, he helps them out after Domino accidentally runs off from the trip to the vet and he takes them home. Hop Pop worries that he and his grandchildren have inconvenienced him again. However, Mr. Boonchuy assures them that they helped out his daughter in her time of need and because of that, he will forever be grateful to them and they'll never owe him anything.
In "Temple Frogs", Mr. Boonchuy tells the Plantars about the special monthly ceremony that occurs at the Thai Temple. When two of Anne's classmates attempted to get photos of her for the school newspaper, he willingly tries to give them some of Anne's baby pictures, much to her embarrassment.
In "Fixing Frobo", when his new limited controller arrived, it was disintegrated by one of Frobo's laser beams when trying to bring him back online. While he was playing his computer game, the power went out while he was fighting a boss, because Polly turned on Frobo and had to much power. He then found a big hole in the backyard while Anne, Sprig, and Hop Pop were dancing.
In "Anne-sterminator" he, his wife, and the Plantar Family are watching Fumigator 4, at the same time is Anne doing chores and are impressed. He and his wife are proud that Anne has changed and has been upward and honest with them this all time. As they hugged, Anne goes to get some Coffee Ice Cream along with Sprig (in reality, Anne is using it as an excuse to tell Sprig she can't keep Andrias, Cloak-bot, or the Invasion a secret anymore.) As Anne is getting ready to tell them the truth about Andrias, Cloak-bot arrived and enter the house while they hid his wife's workout Room. When Cloak-bot arrived in the room, it got confused by the number of Anne dummies, causing him and his wife to realize its after Anne.
They took off in the van and they wanted to know why a robot was after them, Anne doesn't go must detail, but Sprig adds she punch the King, much to his and his wife's surprise. As Cloak-bot chased after them on a highway, Hop Pop accidentally revealed that Cloak-bot had attack both Anne and the Plantars more than once. Cloak-Bot then jump right in front of them, but then ran over him, they arrived at a junkyard to hide. While hiding form the robot, Mr. Boonchuy and his wife confront Anne and demanded to know what was going on, though he wanted to hear her out first, but his wife points out that Anne did something to provoke the King and set that robot after her for retribution. When his wife started chewing out Anne for lying and haven't changed and begins putting too much pressure on Anne's Shoulders, Anne begins to admit she did lie and only did it to protect them and the Plantars and she needs their help.
Mr. Boonchuy and the Plantars engaged the robot while it was distracted by the number of Anne Dummies but blew them away as it was getting ready to terminate Anne. After his wife and Anne damaged the Robot more, he wasn't surprised, however the robot gave one last laugh as its self-destruct sequence is about to go off. Anne then taps into her calamity box powers, kick the robot high into orbit and exploded, much to his and his wife surprised, but Anne passes out before she can tell them the whole the story. While driving home, he and his wife begin to understand that was protecting both them and the Plantars and promised to help them, though he asks them to pretend he is hugging them while he was driving. Unaware, to them, the FBI are watching traffic footage of the robot chasing them and it's time to call in Mr. X.
In "Mr. X", he and his wife were talking about their battle against Cloak-Bot and ready for more. After Anne and the Plantars took off to go to the movies, Mr. X shows up and started questioning his wife while he was in the kitchen. When he came out with Mr. X's order, Jenny, Mr. X's assistant appears by the doorway with a laptop and informs Mr. X that Anne and the Plantars have been sighted. After watching him storm out with a stun gun with the intention of capturing Anne and the Plantars, Mr. Boonchuy and his wife took off in their van to stop him, while he was driving, his wife tried to called Anne to warn her, but Anne couldn't answer her phone due to being at the movies as it was too loud to hear. His wife took over driving because he drives "like an old man", however Mr. X's car had gadgets of its own and drove over them. Mr. Boonchuy and his wife were able to send Anne a text to warn her and the Plantars about Mr. X.
When Anne called and informed them that Jenny was watching the exits, Mr. Boonchuy and his wife were coming to help, but Anne refused their help. Mrs. Boonchuy told him to tell Anne that they are adults, and they know what they're doing. Mr. Boonchuy attempted to put his cellphone on speaker, but accidentally called Anne's grandmother instead. Anne told them stay out of it. When arriving at the theater, they see Jenny at the exit scanning every costumer to see if they were aliens in disguise. Wondering out to get them out, Mr. Boonchuy had an idea and told her to drive to the pet store. Mr. Boonchuy called Anne again and told her they have a plan to get her and the Plantars, but Anne still refused their help as Anne claims she and the Plantars had a plan of their own. Suddenly, a team of FBI agents arrive to captured Anne and the Plantars, the two knew Anne and the Planatars were in one of the bathrooms, his wife asked him if he was ready and he replied: "Born ready."
Mr. Boonchuy and his wife set out to rescue Anne and the Plantars, they fool with electricity and cause the power at the theater to go out. He crawls inside the theater to get Anne and the Plantars and then left Mr. X, Jenny, and the FBI a pair of real frogs and a tadpole that he got from the pet store, this made Mr. X a laughingstock in front of his colleagues, but Mr. X still plans to capture Anne and the Plantars. After escaping Mr. X and the FBI, Mr. Boonchuy and his wife explain their plan and how they saved them. Anne admits that she misjudged them, they forgive her until she asks them how they knew which bathroom they were in only to reveal they put a tracking device on Hop Pop while he was sleeping. Polly then rips it off and Hop Pop screams.
In "Sprig's Birthday", Mr Boonchuy was seen gardening until he got hit in the head and knocked by the mud crown for Sprig's birthday. Then, he later took Sprig and Anne to a hot air balloon field for Sprig's birthday, he stays in the van reading a comic while Anne and Sprig went to go fly in a hot air balloon. Later that night, he is still waiting for Anne and Sprig, not knowing they have accidentally flown away while in the balloon.
In "Spider-Sprig", he is watching Tarantu-Lad with Anne and the Plantars and he breaks down crying as the movie ends, he tells them it was the greatest story ever told. Unaware to him, it inspired Sprig to become a costume superhero so that way he can have his presence known on Earth.
In "Hollywood Hop Pop", when Hop Pop stars in a new commercial, he and his wife were surprised that Hop Pop became famous and wondering if they could charge for rent. Anne is worried that Mr. X might see this, though he tells her that Mr. X is a federal employee and believes he has other things to do.
In "If You Give a Frog a Cookie", he saw the cookies that Anne had baked, only for his wife to spit in front of him, because they had cicadas in them.
In "Froggy Little Christmas", Mr. Boonchuy and his wife were getting ready to celebrate, when his wife was offered to join the Christmas-Palooza Parade with a Thai Go Float, she turns it down due to needing to keep a low profile from both Mr. X and King Andrias. Unaware to him and his wife, Anne secretly called them back and she and the Plantars set to build a Thai Go float for the Parade, during this time, he tried to get the perfect family photo, only to fail. On Christmas Eve, Anne and the Plantars surprised him and his wife with the Thai Go, they loved it, and joined the parade. However, while he was getting to take a picture of Anne, his wife, and the Plantars, the giant robot Santa float in front of them came to life and said Anne's named out loud, ruining the photo. It was King Andrias who sent a Drone Soldier to eliminate Anne and had taken control of the giant Santa Robot and started to chase after them.
Mr. Boonchuy, his wife, Anne, and the Plantars attempt to fight back by throwing stuff from their float, but had no affect. When Sprig asked Anne if Santa had a weakness, Mr. Boonchuy wonders if they can throw him milk and cookies, though Anne wasn't sure if that would work until Sprig and Polly threw the giant cookie at the robot. They then come upon a dead end and were fixing to destroy until they fire the tree from their float and destroy the giant robot. Despite what happened, they had a good time, Mr. Boonchuy even finally got to take a picture of them. They head inside to go enjoy some cookies. The next day, on Christmas morning, Mr. Boonchuy gave the Plantars their first Christmas presents: Sprig got a Tarantu-Lad action figure, Polly got a narf gun, and Hop Pop got a book on how to direct.
In "Escape to Amphibia", Mr. Boonchuuy along with Anne, the Plantars, and his wife went to a warehouse where Terri and Dr. Jan have fully built a portal to help the Plantars get back to Amphibia. The portal works until a giant praying Mantis appears, causing Terri to unplug it. Realizing the portal needs more work, Terri instructed him, his wife, Anne, and the Plantars to get more generators and yogurt covered pretzels. Mr. B, his wife, the Plantars, and Anne went to SpendCo to get all the stuff they need. Unaware to them, Mr. X had located them at SpendCo using one of the security cameras.
When the group returns from Amphibia during "All In", Mr. Boonchuy and his wife arrive to help out, explaining that they spent the time preparing with help with Mr. X's FBI branch.
Mr Boonchuy is not seen or mentioned again in "The Hardest Thing", but he is pictured with Mrs. Boonchuy on the wall of the cosmic Guardian's house.

Sprig Plantar[]
Mr. Boonchuy first meets Sprig after Anne returns home with the Plantars after her five months in Amphibia, which he fainted by Sprig's intro. Though he was surprised by the existence of another world with talking frogs, he and his wife ended up welcoming them into their home after seeing how much they mean to Anne, and also out of gratitude for them taking her in their world.
Hop Pop Plantar[]
Like with Sprig, Mr. Boonchuy was surprised to see talking frogs, but he welcomed him and his grandchildren into his home because of Anne's care for them. Though he doesn't interact with him much, at least more than his wife, he is deeply grateful for giving Anne a place to stay in Amphibia, while Hop Pop tries not to treat himself as anything more than a guest. When Hop Pop started considering himself and his family freeloaders, Mr. Boonchuy corrects him by telling him that he and his family will never owe him or his family anything for how they took care of Anne during her five months in Amphibia.
Polly Plantar[]
Like with the rest of the Plantars, Mr. Boonchuy was surprised to see her and her family, but he welcomed her and her family into his home because of Anne's care for them. Also like with Hop Pop, he doesn't interact with Polly as much, but he is deeply grateful to her for sheltering Anne, while Polly doesn't try to be anything more than a guest.
King Andrias[]
Mr. Boonchuy hasn't met King Andrias in person, only encountering him indirectly both when Cloak-Bot attacked their home, and during his attack on Mr. Boonchuy's family during the Christmas Parade. Based on the information given to him by Anne and the Plantars, it can be assumed that Mr. Boonchuy hates King Andrias for lying to Anne about sending her home, manipulating her and her friends into trusting him, and planning to invade Earth with an army of Frobots. He especially hates him for trying to kill his daughter, and he tries to support Anne in fighting back against him.

Name and basis[]
Although his name has never been revealed on or off-screen, Matt Braly revealed during an interview with The Geeky Waffle YouTube channel that Mr. Boonchuy's Thai nickname is Bee.[2]
Voice[]
Mr. Boonchuy is voiced by Brian Sounalath. It was confirmed by Matt Braly during the Amphibia and The Owl House panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2021.[1] Braly mentioned in the panel that he hired Sounalath during the first season when Mr. Boonchuy was meant to appear.
Debut[]
Initially mentioned in "Fort in the Road", Mr. Boonchuy made his official debut in the third season episode "The New Normal".
He was originally meant to debut in the first season, appearing in a cut flashback in the episode "Anne Vs. Wild"; he would also appear in the flashback at the beginning of "Reunion", but the scene was cut.[1]
