Moss Men are a race of mysterious, large, floral, ape-like creatures that according to Lady Olivia are otherworldly creatures that were brought to Amphibia through the Calamity Box. They are considered a legend among the amphibians, akin to a cryptid.
Appearance[]
Moss Men are considerably large. Their bodies are covered in green moss and have big glowing eyes and all shown to have vegetation growing around their bodies like tree branches, small trees, flowers, and glowing mushrooms.
Background[]
It seems that the Moss Men used to live in a forest-like dimension until King Andrias' ancestors conquered their world and took a few back to Amphibia as trophies while the rest were left to die. According to Andrias, they were primarily used for study to improve their medical technology. After they were done with them, the Moss Men were chained up and kept at the gardens within Newtopia Castle. However, they did not seem to mind their imprisonment and spent their days caring for the plants alongside head gardener Leif. Later, during her theft of the Calamity Box, Leif released one of her chains so she could use her as a mount to escape, releasing her afterwards.
The Moss Man released by Leif would settle down near the town of Wartwood Swamp, where it became something of a folk legend, though the inhabitants did not believe it actually existed. Wally Ribbiton falsely claimed to have encountered her once, which only earned him the town's ridicule. However, one day, Anne crossed paths with her while picking berries with the Plantars, though she left before anyone else saw it. Aiming to prove its existence by taking a picture of the creature with her phone, Anne recruited Wally to track it down. Unfortunately, while encountering it several times, she ultimately failed to take the shot. However, Wally ended up seeing it, which was enough for Anne.
The people of Wartwood would continue to believe the Moss Man was a legend until the final battle against Andrias' Frobot army, when the one released by Leif inexplicably appeared on the battlefield and saved Wally, causing it to be seen by everybody, thus proving Wally's claims. After the battle, Sprig would succeed where Anne failed by successfully taking a picture of the Moss Man and recording it in his journal.

Trivia[]
- Some Moss Men seem to appear in Andrias' hidden mural in an unknown forest-like location in flames, hinting that their world has been already conquered or destroyed by Andrias or his ancestors.
- The Moss Men appear to have incredibly long lifespans, as shown with the Moss Man released by Leif who lived in the wild for over 1,000 years after Leif released it.
- The Moss Man bears the same name as a character from Masters of the Universe.
