Martha is a minor character in Amphibia. She and her husband were cannibals who owned the Dandy Lion Inn before it was destroyed, after the Plantars stayed there for the night during the episode "A Night at the Inn".
Appearance[]
She is a dark brown toad with light yellow stripes on her back. She has two short horns and a lighter brown underbelly. Martha wears a pink, old-fashioned dress with a white collar and light pink fringes at the end of her skirt and shoulder. There is also a yellow button located between her collar. She has grey hair tied into a bun and wears small-round spectacles.
Background[]
In "A Night at the Inn", Teddy and Martha first appear, greeting Anne and the Plantar family when they arrive at their inn after their snail Bessie gets into an accident. They offer Anne and the Plantars to stay at their inn for the night, kindly giving four rooms for the price of one along with some homemade cookies. However, when Polly gets scared during the night, she checks with Hop Pop Plantar, Sprig, and Anne, only to find them all gone. Martha, dressed in a black cloak, ambushes her, but Polly manages to escape by jumping down into a laundry chute.
Later, Martha arrives in the kitchen and informs the other bullfrogs of Polly's escape, realizing Polly did not eat any of the cookies they gave to the Plantars which were filled with sleeping drugs to knock them out.
Just as the bullfrogs prepare to cook Anne, Hop Pop, and Sprig alive, Polly suddenly arrives from the laundry chute and attacks the bullfrogs before awakening the trio. Martha, Teddy, and the sisters corner Polly and taunt her for thinking she could save her family, saying she's just a young tadpole. However, Polly causes a pot of marinade to spill all over the floor, causing the bullfrogs to slip. This allows Polly and her family to escape to the stable where Bessie is and discover that Bessie's accident was a trap placed by the bullfrogs and find more snails from other frogs that the bullfrogs had eaten in past. Just as Anne and the Plantars escape, Martha and her family recover from their fall where Teddy notices Anne had purposely caused some baking soda and vinegar to mix together. This causes the inn to explode.
