Lysil and Angwin are conjoined twin olms who inhabit a mountain pass in Amphibia. They were former exiles of Proteus who resided in Quarreler's Pass for a time, testing bickering travelers and devouring those who failed as punishment and survival tests.
Appearance[]
The twin olms bear a snake-like resemblance similar to their earth-counterparts. They are large beasts that have short front legs while lacking any back legs. Each olm's side of the body have a different color from each other—Lysil's is purple and Angwin's is light pink. They are also mostly blind, hence the bleached eyes, and have two glowing branched gills forming tufts atop their heads. Lysil and Angwin also have various scars on their bodies from the various fights between the two.

Lysil and Angwin used to be patrol guards of Proteus until they were banished for carelessly letting intruders pass through Proteus due to their arguing with each other. After that, they decided to test travelers passing through Quarreler's Pass who bicker all the time and then devour those who failed as punishment.
In "Quarreler's Pass", Lysil and Angwin met Sprig Plantar and his sister Polly Plantar, who were forced to take the path because their bickering was driving their grandfather Hop Pop Plantar and their friend Anne Boonchuy nuts while on a journey to Newtopia. The siblings attempt to devour them after they enter their lair. However, they ended up arguing when Angwin accused Lysil of "dragging her feet", only to remind him they don't have feet. After arguing, Angwin tells Lysil they should just eat the Plantar siblings and then go back to never speaking to each other again, which she agrees. Unaware, the Plantar siblings mimicked their voice to make it look like they were saying mean things to each other and caused the two to fight, which allowed the Plantar siblings to escape as the place began to crumble.
In "Olm Town Road", Lysil and Angwin survived the collision and ran into Sprig and Polly who were accompanied by Hop Pop, Anne, and Anne's friend Sasha Waybright who wanted to know about Mother Olm in order to stop King Andrias and his forces from destroying Amphibia and taking over other worlds.
Personality[]
Lysil and Angwin share a similar personality, both being vicious when it comes to eating. Prior to "Olm Town Road," they're portrayed as bloodthirsty and savage, eating whatever comes into their cave. Being siblings, however, they also share an argumentative characteristic, picking a fight with each other almost all the time. In "Olm Town Road," the two seem to change from their brutal ways, nearly sacrificing themselves in order to save Proteus.

Angwin is named after Proteus anguinus, the only known species in the olm genus.
