Felicia Sundew is a supporting character in Amphibia. She lives with her daughter Ivy at her tea shop in Wartwood Swamp.
Appearance[]
Felicia is a skinny, yellow frog with long, braided red hair and a crown of green flowers sitting atop her head. She wears a dark green dress and lipstick.
Personality[]
Felicia is a kind and caring individual. She is, in many aspects, a motherly figure, especially since she has a single daughter to look after and adores Sprig, especially when he is with her. While she hardly shows it, she does display some slight superiority over others, such as when she would only shake Hop Pop's hand with a handkerchief. She can also be greedy, as she pushed for her daughter's marriage to Sprig just so she and Hop Pop can get the benefits of a merger. Nevertheless, she is a generally nice person who loves holding a conversation.
Although she seems like a prissy and proper woman who only cares about tea and perfection, Felicia is shown to be well-versed in a form of martial arts, because of the trips she took to collect tea and the china for her tea shop. She used daily chores as a way to teach her daughter self-defense, hoping to take her on her next adventure.
Background[]
Felicia Sundew is the daughter of Sylvia Sundew. At one point in her life, she met a traveler who she later married and had a daughter named Ivy. She owns a tea shop in Wartwood called Felicia's Tea Shoppe.
In "Anne or Beast?", Felicia is seen strolling through Wartwood before she goes into the market. She is later seen among the townspeople to hunt down Anne Boonchuy until Hop Pop is allowed by Mayor Toadstool to provide the girl some shelter.
In "Girl Time", Felicia serves Anne and Polly Dung Beetle Scones as they eat at her restaurant. Seeing how Anne and Polly are having some "girl time", Felicia advises the two to go get massages at Tuti's place. After they leave, Felicia checks their bill and notices it was paid with an IOU, causing Felicia to realize it is worthless. Felicia searches for Anne and Polly with Sheriff Buck Leatherleaf and the citizens until they are caught. Felicia watches the sheriff force Anne and the Plantars to repay their debt until they manage to successfully do so when Polly breaks Wartwood's spitting record, which allows Felicia to get a piece of the record's golden trophy.
In "Dating Season", Felicia makes a deal with Hop Pop to set his grandson Sprig up with her daughter Ivy in exchange for getting Sprig to work at her restaurant while Hop Pop gets some seeds for some special vegetables of hers. At the Firefly Formal dance, Felicia arrives with Ivy, who is all dressed up to become Sprig's girlfriend. As Felicia and the Plantars watch Ivy and Sprig dance from afar, they are shocked to see the kids suddenly abandon the mating ritual, leaving Felicia and Hop Pop worried that their merger will not be completed if the kids do not finish the ritual.
As Felicia and the Plantars search for Ivy and Sprig in the woods, they come across a pair of giant love doves who capture and take them to their nest to be marinated before eating them. Felicia then argues with Hop Pop, blaming him for not teaching his grandson to do a proper courtship until Polly interrupts them, saying they are both to blame as they cared more about the wealth they would earn rather than how Ivy and Sprig really felt about each other. Just then, Ivy and Sprig come to their rescue and defeat the love doves, causing them to fly away. Though Felicia already apologizes to Ivy for forcing her to go along with the ritual, she decides to give her daughter a proper apology away from the love doves' nest, prompting them to head back home just as Ivy and Sprig exchange loving glances at each other.
In "Plantar's Last Stand", Felicia is among those who offer to buy Hop Pop's new potion, only to find out later that it is worthless and later gets her money back.
In "Toad Tax", while shopping at Grub & Go, Felicia and everyone in the market laughs at Anne and belittles her when she slips on a wet floor. Later, Bog, Fens, and Mire come to her restaurant and rob her, believing she did not pay her taxes to Toad Tower. However, Anne returns a mug to Felicia, leaving her grateful towards the human girl. Later, Felicia and everyone in Wartwood witnesses Anne standing up to the toads, calling them out on their bullying nature towards the frogs. This leaves Felicia and everyone else impressed with Anne's bravery and selflessness where they come to her rescue when the toads injure her, with Felicia proclaiming that Anne is one of them. After discovering Mayor Toadstool to be hoarding the town's taxes and everyone gets their belongings back, Felicia is amongst the crowd, cheering for Anne and officially naming her the protector of Wartwood, while coming to finally respect her.
In "Grubhog Day", she is seen riding the Spider Spinner during the [[Grubhog Day (event)|Grubhog Day0] festival.
In "Hop-Popular", she is seen with her mother Sylivia about joining the dance festival.
In "Civil Wart", Felicia attends a local theater night in Wartwood with Ivy. Felicia becomes disappointed to hear that an acting troupe canceled their performance until she becomes intrigued when Anne suggests to watch a movie instead. After watching the movie Love Choice, Felicia sides with Polly in favoring the character Hunter over another character named Alastair for the film's shipping.
The next day, Felicia and the members of her group are alerted of Hop Pop stealing their flag, causing them to follow him to the center of Wartwood where they are confronted by the Alastair team. A battle breaks out between the two groups, but just when Felicia and her team seem to be getting the upper hand, she and her teammates get ambushed by their opponents, leaving Polly as the last member of their group still standing. Eventually, the fight ends after Sprig and Polly make up when Sprig protects his sister from getting hurt by his teammates.
In "Trip to the Archives", Felicia is at her tea shop, when headed to the bathroom, Sprig comes running out of it, scaring her though he kept apologizing repeatedly.
In "Children of the Spore", Felicia is one of the very individuals mind-controlled by Apothecary Gary, where she is seen attacking the Plantar Farm, along with the mind-controlled civilians. However, after Apothecary Gary is eaten by Bessie, Felicia is freed from his control and leaves to go home, having no memory of her mind-controlled state.
In "Anne of the Year", Felicia attends Anne's Frog of the Year party where she admires the party's decorations. After Anne managed to save everyone from a fire, Felicia looks sorry for Anne when the girl miserably asks why she was voted Frog of the Year. When Hop Pop states she was voted Frog of the Year because of her maturity and selflessness, Felicia, along with others, give Anne an encore in order to support Hop Pop's reason. After cheering Anne up, Felicia and everyone else continues attending Anne's party.
In "The Shut-In!", during the Shut-In, Anne is alone with Sprig and Polly were at her house asking for stuff they need to lock themselves in their home. She gave them some stuff including rusted nails.
In "Commander Anne", Felicia is among the resistance and later inform of Anne and the Plantars' return.
In "Sprivy", Felicia is seen eating at Stumpy's underground restaurant. Then, she later stays behind with the rest of the resistance.
