Barrel's Warhammer is an ancient hammer that was used by Barrel the Brave and guarded by the Narwhal Worm, until Sasha and Grime acquired it from the worm's hind.
Appearance[]
The hammer is made of metal in various shades of gray, and has a large head that has runes carved into the face and a rocket booster on the opposite side. It is mounted on a purplish-gray staff. In use, its runes glow in pink.
Background[]
The hammer was owned by the legendary toad warrior Barrel the Brave, who wielded it during and after his career as a Newtopian guard. The hammer seemed to be standard issue to Newtopian guards. Barrel would use the hammer when he and Prince Andrias chased down their friend Leif after she stole the Calamity Box. However, upon confronting her, Barrel was unable to bring himself to strike, which gave Leif the opening to escape. Days after Leif's departure, Andrias reassigned Barrel to guard villages up north as punishment for his failure, and Barrel took his Warhammer with him. The hammer would later be guarded by the Narwhal Worm.
Over 1000 years later, Sasha and Grime got the toad captains of the other Toad Towers together and proposed, through a presentation, that they should unite and rebel against King Andrias. The captains liked the idea until they discovered that Sasha and Grime were to be the ones leading the revolution. Sasha demanded to know what they have to do to have the armies follow her and gain the support of the toad warlords. Captain Aldo responded by claiming that the only way to prove their worth as leaders was through locating and returning Barrel's Warhammer, a legendary weapon which belonged to a renowned warrior known as Barrel. Sasha agreed and planned to achieve the feat by morning. The other captains, Bufo and Grime's sister Beatrix, found it crazy but were intrigued to see if they could do it. On the trip, Percy and Braddock were scared and Sasha told them that if they give her the signal, they'd leave. Soon the quartet found the hammer attached to the hind of a giant Narwhal Worm. Sasha ignored Percy and Braddock and guided the worm to the tower. Seeing that the worm was going too fast, Sasha pulled out the hammer with Grime giving a hand to handle that hammer, which started to glow like her eyes and both of them knocked the worm out. Seeing the hammer, Aldo told Sasha that she and Grime have the support of the toad armies. However, Percy and Braddock left because Sasha ignored them and put them in danger.
Grime used the hammer to strike down King Andrias and threatened to use it to crush his head so the Newtopian Army would surrender and the rebellion could begin. He later used it against Sprig, who after knocking Grime off his feet, surprised the toad by lifting it. However, its rockets threw Sprig away then onto Grime, knocking him out.
Grime used the hammer in combat regularly until Darcy sliced off his left arm, leaving him unable to wield it as a weapon any longer. During the epilogue in "The Hardest Thing", Andrias used the hammer as a cane to walk around as well as a spade for gardening, with the hammer also tripling as a memory of his friend Barrel among other things.
