The following is a list of references to Amphibia in popular culture.
List of references[]
Television[]
- The Owl House:
- In the episode "Escaping Expulsion", one of Willow's books Lifestyle of the Common Swamp Toad has a picture of Hop Pop on the cover, although he is depicted with green eyes.
- In the episodes "Hunting Palismen" and "Any Sport in a Storm", a plush of Sprig can be seen in Hunter's room under a pillow.
- In the episode "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door", while Luz and Amity are in the basement of the Owl House, the Calamity Box can be seen on a shelf.
- In the episode "Edge of the World", resemblances of weapons from Amphibia, including one of Sasha's heron swords and Tritonio's ancestral sword, can be seen at the Titan Trappers' camp. Anne's racket can also be seen in Bill's room.
- In the second season's finale "King's Tide" and the third season's premiere "Thanks to Them", Camila's tablet shows an article about a girl lost in a "frog land" and questioning if it was a "hoax," with a picture of Anne in the headline. This hints these episodes take place shortly after Anne, Sasha, and Marcy returned to Earth in "The Hardest Thing".
- Additionally, "King's Tide" ends in a similar way as Amphibia's own Season 2 finale, "True Colors", and the start of the Season 3 premiere, "The New Normal". Both involve one of the main character's friends sacrificing themselves to send her and some of her other friends through a portal to Earth from the antagonist's castle. Both main characters' mothers are cooking when they get their daughter's knock at the door, with both daughters' greetings being similar.
- "Thanks to Them":
- A snail resembling Bessie appears in the opening sequence.[1]
- At the Happy Pets Clinic, Hop Pop can be seen on a poster, wearing a mask.
- Also at the clinic, Luz has a drawing of Polly in her notebook of ideas of what her egg palisman will turn into.
- A person is seen wearing a Grime costume for the Halloween event in Gravesfield.
- In "For the Future", a student at Hexside is designed to resemble Anne.[2]
- In the finale, "Watching and Dreaming", a pin of Polly appears in the epilogue on Luz's bulletin board. The episode also gives special thanks to Amphibia creator Matt Braly.
- Chibi Tiny Tales/Chibiverse:
- For Amphibia references in non-Amphibia-centric Chibi Tiny Tales shorts, see Chibi Tiny Tales#Trivia.
- For Amphibia references in Chibiverse, see Chibiverse#Allusions to Amphibia.
- Big City Greens: In the episode "Present Tense", a Sprig plushie is visible in a claw machine in an arcade along some other Disney Channel figures from other Disney Television Animation series.
Books[]
- The Book of Bill: The Core helmet is one of the patients in the interdimensional rehabilitation dimension Bill is banished to.
Web videos[]
- Disney Channel:
- In the Ghost and Molly McGee "Darryl Theme Song Takeover", one of Darryl McGee's scams involves selling cheap knockoff DVDs of Disney Television Animated series. Among the five parodies, one of them depicted is cover art of a parody of Amphibia titled Reptilia.
- In the lyric adaptation of the song "Ways to Be Wicked" from Descendants 2 "Ways We Feel Anxious", Marcy mentions two moments from Amphibia in her lines:
- "Deep down, I fear that with my friends, I've been a liar." - Marcy expressing guilt for betraying Anne and Sasha.[3]
- "On top of that, my cape is currently on fire." - A running gag from "Marcy at the Gates".
- Polly, Marcy, Toadie, and Mayor Toadstool appear in the Broken Karaoke short "Born to Be Strange".
- The Core (as Darcy) and King Andrias perform in the Broken Karaoke short "Evil As Can Be". Other Amphibia characters shown include Anne on a calendar, Barry in a group shot with other villains, and Sprig on a television set.
- In the short, Dr. Doofenshmirtz gives Andrias an "honorable mention" due to the latter's redemption arc in Season 3.
- Polly is featured in the fifth episode of the second season of the web series How NOT to Draw, in which her animator, Sumalee Montano, tries to infantilize her.
- In Kiff's Theme Song Takeover "Kiff Takes Over the Disney Channel", Kiff replaces Anne in a rendition of Amphibia's opening sequence.
- Kiff's line "What's happening with that moon?" references the main conflict in Amphibia's series finale "The Hardest Thing", although the shot of the moon used in the video is from the end of "All In".
- Carl "Kāru" Abelgas:
- His video Amphibia - Epic Orchestral Medley includes, in order, the Amphibia Main Title Theme, "Welcome to Amphibia", "Sasha's Theme", "Marcy's Theme", "Anne's Theme" and "No Big Deal".[4]
- In his video The Owl House - Epic Orchestral Medley, "Anne's Theme" plays thrice: once after the cover of The Owl House End Credit Theme and twice in the orchestral finale.[5] The credits sequence includes a quote from Hop Pop from "A Caravan Named Desire" and gives special thanks to both Matt Braly and TJ Hill for their responses to his Amphibia medley.[6][7]
- Kalamity Music:
- Her orchestral medley celebrating Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and The Owl House in collaboration with Kāru includes renditions of all tracks included in Kāru's first Amphibia medley, as well as the "Friendship Theme" and "Flight of the Moth".[8] Prior to the rendition of "Sasha's Theme", an interlude depicts the Core seeking vengeance on Anne, the Guardian, Amphibia, Earth, and the rest of the multiverse for its defeat in "The Hardest Thing".
- Although they do not receive their own suites, "Welcome to Amphibia" and the "Friendship Theme" are featured in the respective renditions of the "Main Title Theme" and "Sasha's Theme".
- Portions of the rendition of "No Big Deal" resemble Jakeneutron's remix of the song that was used for the trailer for Season 3.
- The "Villains' Suite" includes renditions of "Marcy's Theme", referring to the Core's possession of Marcy.
- The suite "All Together, One Last Time" includes a rendition of "One Last Hurrah (NBD big band remix)".

- The credits sequence includes a sequence of the "Friendship Theme", "Marcy's Theme", "Sasha's Theme", and "Anne's Theme" in the same order as in extended end credits.
- The accompanying illustrations by IncroyableDraws reference some scenes from the show:
- Amphibia Main Title Theme: Season 1 poster
- "Flight of the Moth": Sprig's performance in "Fiddle Me This"
- "Sasha's Theme": Sasha rehearsing "Heartstomper" in "Battle of the Bands"
- "Marcy's Theme": Marcy finding the Calamity Box after running away in the flashback in "True Colors". (The illustration depicts rainy weather during this scene, as opposed to the dry weather in the show.)
- "Anne's Theme": Season 2 credits sequence
- "No Big Deal": The trio's full Calamity forms performing the song (a "hybrid" of the song's appearances in "Battle of the Bands" and "The Hardest Thing")
- MatPat/Team Theorist:
- In the Food Theory episode Fixing TikTok's FAILED Pringles Mashed Potatoes! (Viral TikTok Hack),[9] MatPat compares a combination of a Thanksgiving turkey and mashed potatoes to a "Steven Universe gem fusion". After MatPat realizes that he tried to appeal to younger viewers by referencing a series that ended five years prior, his wife Stephanie suggests referencing Amphibia, to which MatPat revealed that he is actually starting to watch the series and mentioned that he was up to "Hop Luck"/"Stakeout".
- In the GTLive stream Chikin Nuggit Lore Is DARKER Than You Think...,[10] MatPat reveals that if he is either researching a series or considering a theory on a series, he would watch the series at night. He explicitly mentioned Amphibia as an example of this and that he has finished watching the show, implying that a Film Theory episode about Amphibia is under consideration.
- In the Film Theory episode Bill Cipher is Still ALIVE… and I Found Him! (Gravity Falls),[11] MatPat ties Amphibia to the pine tree symbol in an Alex Hirsch version of the Bill Cipher zodiac.
- In the Film Theory episode Don’t Trust Your Heroes,[12] MatPat lists Amphibia as an example of media with good female role models, contrasting what he claims to be a lack in media of good male role models.

- The video 6 Phrases Manipulators Say To Make You Feel Crazy from the YouTube channel Psych2Go contains depictions of Anne, Sasha, Marcy, and Mrs. Boonchuy.[17]
- In one scene, Sasha coerces Marcy into letting the former copy the latter's test, referencing Sasha coercing Anne into missing the latter's birthday party from "Reunion".
