"Spranne against the world" is a catchphrase said in unison by Anne Boonchuy and Sprig Plantar to signify their close friendship. The name "Spranne" is a portmanteau of Sprig and Anne's names, respectively.
It was adopted in "Flood, Sweat & Tears" when Wally passes by Anne and Sprig playing tennis outside the Plantar Farm and shows disbelief for the sight of a frog child and a "monster" getting along. Anne brushes off Wally's remarks and insists she and Sprig are close enough friends to adopt a catchphrase, whereupon Sprig joins hands with her and they both shout "Spranne against the world", which Wally calls "disgusting" as he walks off in disapproval. It is said again when the duo declares themselves the "best of roomies" to cover up to Hop Pop and Polly why neither of them got any sleep last night. It is said a third time when Anne questions if the phrase still holds true even in troublesome circumstances when a pillow fight started by Anne causes Sprig to accidentally break his action figure when he attempts to dodge back.
In "Cursed!", the catchphrase is said after Sprig sets up Anne to break up with Maddie for him, upon hearing Anne would deliver breakups on behalf of her friends all the time back home.
In "Reunion", Sprig says the phrase himself after Anne thanks him for believing in her after he defends her against Sasha at Toad Tower.
In "A Day at the Aquarium", Anne and Sprig say the phrase right before wishing each other goodye as the Plantars return to Wartwood without her while she stays in Newtopia with Marcy to recharge the three stones of the music box to get back home.
In "True Colors", Sprig says it when Anne asks if he's ready for one last adventure, referring to their plans to team up and shut the city gate to prevent Grime's Toad Army from entering. The scene of Sprig saying the phrase at Toad Tower is shown in a series of flashbacks highlighting the memories Anne has shared with Sprig over her time in Amphibia.
The catchphrase is said one last time by the two of them when Anne is wishing Sprig her final goodbye in "The Hardest Thing" before giving him her phone in remembrance of her.
