Through my time here I've noticed several instances of misuse/obsessive detailing in the character infoboxes, which is especially problematic on the main characters. Specifically, the fields Allies/Friends, Enemies, Likes, Dislikes, Aliases, Goal, Fate, and Quotes. I propose that some of these either be removed or a collaborative effort to narrow them down succinctly be done.
For Friends and Enemies, a lot of these are labeled in parentheses with "former" and it feels unneeded to document no longer existent relations if it just takes up space in the inofbox. Also misinterpretation of what constitutes as a friend/enemy. Having a minor interaction or two with a character is not enough to label them a friend or enemy, especially if it's only a minor/one-shot character. For example Anne saved a little axotl girl's pet from a tree in "Scavenger Hunt" but that doesn't make them friends since they never talk to each other again. Now while friendships with significant age gaps are possible, as evident by Anne's relation with the Plantars, I wouldn't call a simple act of heroism like the one I mentioned a friendship; at most it'd be acquaintance. I would also say that pets are not friends either unless they can talk and properly display some form of sentient reciprocation.
Likes and Dislikes are even more flooded with redundant information that's very microscopic and trivial, especially if it isn't regularly shown. I'd be more in favor of removing these parameters entirely and limiting interests and hobbies to the personality section.
Aliases is also one that gets misused from time to time. Trivial insults and name-calling once an episode are one thing, but casual forms of address like "kid," "child," "mom," "dad," aren't Aliases as they apply to every form of different family members of generations addressing each other informally.
Goal and Fate I feel should only be used for characters with a plot-relevant or serious back story and in-depth development, not minor characters like Maggie.
Inspiration is one I commonly see regular tropes and character archetypes (e.g. rude food critics for Albus Duckweed) be listed, but I think it should only apply to specific or intentional connections confirmed by Matt himself (like Anne being based on both him as a child and his grandmother as a little girl).
Last but not least the Quote parameter is redundant because there's already a quote template placed above the page meant to convey the most character-defining quote from the series, and even a subpage for multiple quotes from the characters throughout the series. Not to mention it's not pluralized yet more than one quote is often listed in the field.
@RedBallFire @Nightsilver I would like to hear some admin input regarding if any updates to the Character infobox and the various pages it spawns is needed upon reading my points raised. This is a major change that would most likely need to be performed by bot accounts so as not to flood the recent activity should any implementation take place in the template.
