In the journal they says words like sus and pog and they're going to school in person so that implies that it takes place post quarantine so early 2021 at least
I think it takes place in 2019 before the Coronavirus Pandemic began. I know that'd make the terms SUS and POG anachronisms, but since this show deals with a multiverse, anthropomorphic amphibians and deities, among other things, that should be very trivial.
