Ever had a life-threatening moment happen to you that was so close a call it's worth annually celebrating as a day you narrowly cheated death and kept on kicking?

For me, today is one of those days. On this day, 6 years ago, my appendix basically exploded and almost killed me. Took me over 2 and a half months to completely recover... glad it happened long before COVID swamped all the hospitals.
